Non-residents’ direct investments in Romania totalled 10,296 million EUR in the first 11 months of last year, higher by 28.36pct compared to 8,021 million EUR in January-November 2021, according to the data published by the National Bank of Romania (BNR) on Friday, Agerpres informs.
„Non-residents’ direct investments in Romania totalled EUR 10,296 million (compared with EUR 8,021 million in January-November 2021), of which equity (including the estimated net reinvestment of earnings) and intercompany lending recorded net values of EUR 7,308 million and EUR 2,988 million, respectively,” according to the BNR release.
The number of newly established companies running on foreign capital in Romania increased, in the first 11 months of 2022, by 30.1pct, compared to the similar period in 2021, to 6,873 units, according to the data centralised by the National Trade Register Office (ONRC).
The 6,873 new companies had a subscribed capital in the total amount of 38.105 million USD, 7.3pct lower than that of the companies registered between January and November 2021, of 41.109 million USD.
In November 2022, 698 companies with foreign participation in the share capital were registered.
Depending on the activity areas, most registrations were recorded in wholesale and retail trade, car and motorcycle repair (26.36pct of the total), in professional, administrative, scientific and technical activities (21.78pct) and transport, storage and communications (17.05pct).
At the end of November 2022, there were 243,720 companies with foreign participation in the share capital in Romania. The value of the subscribed capital stood at 67.245 billion USD.
The largest number of companies with foreign participation was with investors from Italy, namely 51,700 (subscribed capital worth 4.015 billion USD), but the highest value of social capital belongs to Dutch companies, namely 12.573 billion USD, in 5,857 companies.
