Number of dissolved companies, up by 18.38% in 2024

The number of dissolved companies increased by 18.38%, in 2024, up to 46,205, compared to 39,031 in the previous year, according to the data centralized by the National Trade Register Office (ONRC).

The most dissolutions were registered in Bucharest, respectively 9,150 companies (number increasing by 11.71% compared to 2023) and in the counties of Ilfov (2,508, plus 35.06%), Cluj (2,490, plus 22.54%), Constanta (2,452, plus 31.44%), Timisoara (2,057, plus 7.36%), Iasi (1,756, plus 30.58%) and Brasov (1,562, plus 22.61%).

At the opposite pole, the fewest company dissolutions were recorded in Ialomita counties, respectively 234 (plus 9.86% compared to the previous year), Covasna (255, plus 22.6%), Mehedinti (294, plus 12.64%), Calarasi (327, plus 0.31%) and Caras-Severin (329, plus 17.92%).

The most significant increases in the number of dissolutions were recorded in the counties of Harghita (plus 47.28%), Maramures (plus 43.27) and Sibiu (plus 39.26%), while decreases were recorded only in the counties of Hunedoara (minus 2.87%) and Buzau (minus 2.55%).

The field of activity with the most dissolutions of companies, in 2024, is wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, where 12,689 dissolutions were reported at the national level. Compared to the previous year, dissolutions in this sector increased by 14.76%.

According to the cited source, construction, professional, scientific and technical activities, as well as the manufacturing industry, are other fields of activity where a large number of company dissolutions were recorded, respectively 4,651 (+23.93%), 4,556 (+21.66%) and 3,870 (+15.04%).

In December 2024, 5,166 company dissolutions were registered, most in Bucharest (983) and in the counties of Cluj (316), Ilfov (258), Constanta (234) and Timis (218).
