The number of companies with foreign capital newly established in Romania increased in the first four months of 2023 by 4.6% compared to the similar period of 2022, to 2,286 units, according to data centralized by the National Trade Register Office (ONRC), write Agerpres.
The 2,286 new companies had a total subscribed share capital of 8.47 million USD, 39.5% lower than the 14.008 million USD registered between January and April 2022.
In April 2023, a number of 477 new companies with foreign participation in the share capital were registered. By area of activity, most registrations were reported in wholesale and retail trade, car and motorcycle repair (26.4% of the total), professional, administrative, scientific and technical activities (21.8% ), and transport, storage and communications (16.98%).
At the end of April 2023, there were 246,501 companies in Romania with foreign equity participation. The value of subscribed capital stood at 68.17 billion USD.
The largest number of companies with foreign participation was with investors from Italy, namely. 52,133 (subscribed capital of 4.044 billion USD), but the highest value of share capital belonged to Dutch companies, namely 12.61 billion USD, in 5,926 companies.
