Open investment funds registered a decrease in net assets of 31.2 pct in 2022 compared to 2021, reaching 17.431 billion RON, said Horia Gusta, the president of the Association of Fund Administrators, during a debate with the administrators of investment funds organized at the Bucharest Stock Exchange, according to Agerpres.

He stated that a level of assets of open investment funds of 17 billion RON was reached 10 years ago. On the other hand, the alternative funds have a level that has not been reached before. They reached 26.833 billion RON in 2022, compared to 26.266 billion RON in 2021.

„If in 2018, when this format of ours started with the name „Investment Spring”, in March 2018, the number of investors in the stock fund industry was 10,669, today I can tell you that we have a historical maximum of investors in the stock funds shares, i.e. 52,881. This figure has never been reached,” said Horia Gusta.

The number of investors in open investment funds was 461,530 at the end of last year.

Radu Hanga, president of the Bucharest Stock Exchange said that 2022 was a good year for the Stock Exchange, and the declines were much smaller than those recorded on the markets in the region.

„Liquidity was increasing. The number of investors was increasing significantly. We have a new maximum, 133,000 at the end of last year”, declared Radu Hanga.
