The General Prosecutor’s Office and the Romanian Police are continuing their efforts as part of Operation Jupiter by conducting 154 home searches on Monday in Bucharest and several counties across the country, in cases involving economic and financial crimes, smuggling, forgery, fraud, aggravated theft, forestry crimes, pimping, sexual assault, as well as violations of weapons and ammunition regulations.

In addition, police will execute 27 arrest warrants.

According to a statement from the General Prosecutor’s Office, the estimated damages in the cases under investigation exceed 11,740,000 lei.

The procedural activities aim to identify and seize documents, computer systems, storage media, assets suspected of originating from criminal activities or whose possession is illegal, as well as other evidence necessary to document the criminal activity and recover damages.

At the same time, the imposition of precautionary measures is being considered to ensure the recovery of damages and special or extended confiscation, as appropriate.

Operation Jupiter, a strategic initiative of the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the operational units of the Romanian Police, aims to combat crime and protect public order through coordinated actions carried out simultaneously nationwide.

The operation highlights institutional cooperation and the ability of judicial authorities to act in a unified and effective manner in the fight against crime, the press release states.
