The project for the broadening of the passenger terminal of northwestern Oradea Airport, with a total value of over 212 million RON (rd 30 million euros), was declared eligible to receive European funding, the president of the Bihor County Council (CJ), Ilie Bolojan, announced in a press conference, Agerpres informs.
By carrying out this project, the built area will increase from the current 2,925 square meters to approximately 12,500 square meters. The T1 terminal will expand taking into account a traffic of 400 passengers/flow. Four main flows are foreseen: Schengen departures/arrivals and non-Schengen departures/arrivals. Dedicated secondary flows for VIP departures and arrivals will also be provided. It will be possible to process 800 passengers/hour, both on domestic and international flights.
The new constructions will develop mainly on the ground floor, some areas having also a floor/mezzanine. Next to the airport flows, there will be commercial spaces, offices for the administrative, handling, security staff and for the representatives of the institutions with control attributions: border police, intelligence service SRI and customs.
The investment also provides for the expansion of the concrete surfaces in front of the terminal to facilitate the access of passengers, staff and airport equipment, the broadening of the access road and the parking lot (capacity of 320 places), the purchase of a de-icing equipment for periods with low temperatures and other works related.
The duration of carrying out the investment is eight months, of which two months for the design and six months for the execution of the works.
