Ordinance regarding fiscal-budgetary measures not about austerity, but of making public spending efficient, PM says

Published on

The „famous Ordinance” regarding fiscal-budgetary measures is not about „austerity”, prime minister Marcel Ciolacu declared, on Wednesday, at the beginning of the Government meeting, noting that fiscal facilities such as the cancellation of budget outstanding debts for companies and individuals are introduced, if certain conditions are met.

The premier added that the efficiency of public spending is also desired.

„For the first time, we are also coming with bonuses for correct taxpayers, with up-to-date taxes,” Ciolacu said, adding that he had consultations on this project with the business environment.

According to the prime minister, another priority of the Ordinance is supporting the investments of local authorities, so that they could redistribute budget credits in order to secure the necessary financing.
„We increase their loan contracting ceiling from 1 billion to 2 billion RON, and for railway and metro transport projects we allow them to conclude additional contracts that include euro financing – green bonds,” Marcel Ciolacu added.

„Of course we also want the efficiency of public spending. Although it is an election year, I and the Government of Romania cannot witness how the public money is spent on unnecessary expenses. Moreover, responsibility and decency in the administration of the country’s money do no harm to anyone. I think that it is a proof of decency, by no means an apocalypse,” Ciolacu also affirmed.
