More than 1.5 million people, Romanian and foreign nationals, with more than 380,000 means of transport underwent border checks at Romania’s crossing points during the mini-holiday from August 12-15, the spokesperson of the General Inspectorate of the Border Police (IGPF), Roxana Popazu told a press conference on Tuesday, reports Agerpres.
The busiest border was the one with Hungary, crossed, in the same period of time, by approximately 600,000 people and 180,000 vehicles.
„As regards the border checkpoints, both on the inbound and the outbound, the busiest were Nadlac II, with approximately 350,000 people, and PTF Giurgiu, with over 166,000 people,” stated Popazu .
The IGPF official added that during the mini-vacation, the border police found 244 illegal acts committed by both Romanian and foreign nationals in connection with the state border regime.
At the same time, 108 foreign citizens who did not meet the legal requirements were denied entry to the country were denied entry into the country.
Between August 12 and 15, over 4,000 border police officers were on duty, daily, in border surveillance and control missions.
