A total of 1,015 measles cases were reported in May, most of them coming from the counties of Vaslui (107), Bacau (95), and Satu Mare (88), according to information from the National Institute of Public Health (INSP).
„Between January 1, 2023, and May 31, 2025, 34,650 confirmed cases of measles were reported in Romania, including 30 deaths (5 in Bucharest, 4 in Brasov County, 3 in Giurgiu County, 2 each in the counties of Arges, Iasi, Suceava and Satu Mare, and one each in the counties of Mures, Sibiu, Buzau, Constanta, Alba, Ialomita, Vaslui, Bacau, Bihor and Botosani),” the source mentioned.
According to the National Institute of Public Health (INSP), during the period May 1-31, 2025, based on data extracted from the National Electronic Vaccination Registry (RENV), 20,968 doses of MMR (measles-mumps-rubella) vaccine from the national stock were used.
