Over 200,000 people, Romanian and foreign citizens, crossed the borders on the way in and out of the Romania on September 10, and approximately 68,100 means of transport.
According to the General Border Police Inspectorate, coming into Romania through the land border crossings and also through the air and sea border crossings (arrivals from non-Schengen states) were 85,489 people. At the same time, 29,475 means of transport entered the country.
Starting February 10, 2022, before the beginning of the armed conflict in Ukraine, until September 10, midnight, 9,962,805 Ukrainian citizens entered Romania.
Since March 31, 2024, border guards at the airports and seaports across the country have no longer checked people travelling to the Schengen area, but together with the police, immigration and gendarmerie, they carry out policing actions to verify the identity and legal situation of persons and also to prevent and combat crime.
To carry out such checks, there are mobile terminals connected to the relevant databases of the Romanian authorities, and also to those in the Schengen Area, with approximately 5,000 checks in the eDAC application having been conducted in the last 24 hours.
The border police detected 173 illegal acts (80 crimes and 93 misdemeanours) in the areas under their jurisdiction – the border crossings and the green border – committed by both Romanian and foreign citizens, levying about RON 59,050 in fines in the process.
Assets worth over RON 203,000 were impounded.
Thirty-one foreign citizens who did not meet the conditions provided by the law were denied entry.
Also on Tuesday, 14 Romanian citizens were not allowed to leave the country for various legal reasons. (EUR 1 = RON 4.97)
