Over 41k Romanians celebrating their name day on St. Parascheva feast

Some 41,300 Romanians are celebrating their name day on Monday, the feast of St. Parascheva.

According to the Directorate General for Population Records, there are 37,997 women who bear the name Parascheva or derivatives of the name and 3,303 men named Paraschiv or derivatives.

The most common name for women is Paraschiva – 33,125 persons, followed by Parascheva – 2,236, Parasca – 1,086, Chivuta – 559, Chiva – 409, Pachita – 386, Paraschita – 72, Paraschieva – 46, Vuta – 43 and Parastita – 8.

Among men, the most common name is Paraschiv – 2,977, followed by Chivu – 215, Petcu – 95, Paraschivu – 10 and Paraschita – 6.
