Over 49,000 work permits for foreigners wishing to work in Romania were issued by immigration police in the first seven months of this year.
„Between 1 January and 31 July this year, immigration police issued 49,643 work permits nationwide for foreigners wishing to work in Romania. The approved quota for the current year has been utilised at a rate of 49.6%,” announced a press release from the Inspectorate General for Immigration (IGI), sent to AGERPRES on Tuesday.
According to IGI, the majority of permits were issued for permanent workers, with 49,139 such documents recorded.
In addition, 169 permits were granted for seasonal workers, and 115 for highly qualified workers.
Another 187 people received permits as posted workers, while 28 permits were issued for ICT workers, that is, persons transferred within the same company.
Moreover, four permits were granted for au pair workers, and one permit for a trainee worker.
The Inspectorate General for Immigration continues to support Romanian employers by digitising and streamlining the procedures for issuing permits, in accordance with the current legal regulations.
