More than 9,000 police officers will act daily, nationwide, between 14 and 17 April, to maintain public order and safety, both in areas with a large influx of people and in the vicinity of places of worship, during the Easter holidays, the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police (IGPR) informs in a press release sent to AGERPRES on Thursday.
Measures will be taken to maintain public order in crowded places (railway stations, airports, markets, fairs, taverns), in the vicinity of places of worship, where religious services are to be held, as well as in tourist resorts, recreational areas and border crossing points.
„During this period, over 1,600 traffic police officers, on average, will act daily on access roads converging to places of worship and recreational areas, at points with high risk of accidents and at hours of heavy traffic, to combat speeding, prevent accidents and roadblocks, direct, streamline and control traffic on the main communication routes to and from the tourist resorts,” informs the cited source.
For monitoring road traffic and coordination of traffic devices, on the main arteries, in the intervals in which heavy traffic is expected, helicopters from the General Aviation Inspectorate will be used, depending on the atmospheric conditions and the evolution of the registered traffic values.
In order to prevent serious traffic accidents and maintain a cautious attitude in traffic, traffic police will operate about 300 radar devices across the country.
„The transport police will ensure public order measures, on a daily basis, in passenger trains, in railway stations and sorting stations, airports and ports on the Black Sea or on the Danube,” shows the release.
On the night of the Resurrection, in order to maintain public order at religious events, traffic police officers with public order, criminal investigations and other structures will be on duty.
