The motion of censure „Romania is not for sale – without progressists in government” was rejected on Monday by the joint session of the Parliament.
There were 139 votes „for” and two votes „against”, out of a total of 141 votes cast. 420 deputies and senators were present (out of a total of 463 parliamentarians), thus not having met the necessary number of votes – 232 votes for the adoption of a motion of censure.
The parliamentary initiative, presented a week ago by Senator Ninel Peia, was debated on Monday in the presence of Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan.
The motion called for the resignation of the „Progressive Government” led by Ilie Bolojan, on the grounds that it „demonstrated its inability to manage finances, health, education, social protection, justice and public administration – all vital areas that define the life of a free and dignified people”.
