Parliament votes for new central bank leadership; Mugur Isarescu gets a new term as governor

The plenary session of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate approved, on Tuesday, the new leadership of the National Bank of Romania (BNR), with Mugur Isarescu getting a new mandate as governor of the central bank.

Deputies and senators approved, by secret vote with ballots, the new Board of Directors of the BNR.

Mugur Isarescu was appointed president of the Board of Directors and governor of the National Bank of Romania.

Leonardo Badea was appointed vice-president of the BoD and first vice-governor of the BNR, while Florin Georgescu and Cosmin Stefan Marinescu were appointed members of the BoD and vice-governors of the BNR.

Aura Socol, Roberta Anastase, Alexandru Nazare, Csaba Balint and Cristian Popa were appointed as members of the National Bank’s Board of Directors.

The new management of the BNR has a 5-year mandate, starting on October 11.
