Parliamentarians voted on Tuesday to appoint some members of the College of the National Council for the Study of Securitate Archives (CNSAS).
CNSAS members are appointed by Parliament for a six-year term as follows: one member is a representative of civil society, proposed by the President of Romania, based on consultation with non-governmental organizations, one member – representative of civil society, proposed by the Prime Minister, based on consultations with non-governmental organizations, 11 members, at the proposal of the parliamentary groups, according to the political configuration of the two Chambers, including one representative of the parliamentary group of national minorities in the Chamber of Deputies.
The parliamentary groups of PSD proposed Daniela-Laura Cornea, and the parliamentary group of national minorities proposed Adrian-Mihai-Cioflinca. The candidates proposed for the two places in CNSAS were present during the meeting of the two legal commissions in the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate. 282 senators and deputies voted „for”.
The Parliament also voted on the draft Decision to amend the Decision of the Parliament of Romania no. 17/2021 on the election of the members and the office of the Permanent Joint Commission of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate for the exercise of parliamentary control over the activity of the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI). Thus, following the resignation of AUR deputy Dorel-Gheorghe Acatrinei, Georgel Badiu was appointed deputy of the same formation. 188 votes „for” and 47 against were registered.
