The National Leadership Council of the Alliance for Romanians’ Union (AUR) designated on Monday the party’s candidates for Bucharest City Hall – Anca Alexandrescu – and for the presidency of the Buzau County Council (CJ) – Stefan Avramescu.
Anca Alexandrescu stated that she is an „independent candidate” supported by several parties „headed by AUR.”
„Although I share many of the AUR’s values and it has become very clear that I am a sovereignist, that is how I was raised and educated, I will be an independent candidate supported by several parties headed by the AUR, because this is the only alternative in order to defeat this political power. People are tired of politics and want someone at the Capital who can bring everyone to the table. (…) It is important for me to be independent so that I can sit down with everyone and so that this political bias does not exist,” Alexandrescu explained.
She justified her candidacy by saying that „the moment has come.”
George Simion expressed his belief that the two candidates, Anca Alexandrescu and Stefan Avramescu, „will dismantle the mafia networks that have parasitised the Romanian state and captured power.”
„I have this belief that all Romanians who want to vote for something different now have this possibility. Of course, it would have been easy for us not to put forward a candidate. It would have been very easy not to be concerned with partial elections. But we cannot wait indifferently until 2028,” Simion added.
