Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan held several working meetings on Friday with representatives of the banking sector, as part of the Government’s ongoing consultations with key economic actors in preparation for a package of fiscal consolidation measures.
According to a Government press release, the Prime Minister met with the Romanian Banks Association (ARB), represented by its president, Bogdan Neacsu. He also held discussions with the Council of Banking Employers in Romania (CPBR), represented by Mihaela Bitu.
Deputy Prime Minister Dragos Anastasiu also participated in the talks.
‘The meetings took place in the context of preparing a package of measures for fiscal consolidation and focused on an exchange of views regarding the current economic situation, financial stability, and general development prospects,’ the source said.
The Government mentions that these discussions are part of a broader series of consultations with institutions and organisations from various sectors, through which the Executive aims to build an effective set of fiscal measures to reduce the budget deficit.
