PM Bolojan inspects progress on Focsani-Bacau section of A7: Steady progress on Moldavia Motorway

Published on

Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, alongside Transport Minister Ciprian Serban inspected on Friday the progress on the Focsani-Bacau section of the Moldavia Motorway (A7), underscoring that the Government will make sure that the funding under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), through which this investment is also supported, „will be directed toward the projects which shall change people’s lives for the better.”

„Today, together with the Transport and Infrastructure Minister Ciprian Constantin Serban, we inspected the progress on the Focsani-Bacau section and had a focused discussion with the Romanian entrepreneur. The fact that works are being carried out according to the schedule gives us confidence that in August 2026, Romanians shall be able to drive fast and safely between Bucharest and Pascani on this motorway. At the Government level, we will make sure that the PNRR funding, an European mechanism through which we support this major investment for Romania, shall be directed toward the projects which will change the people’s lives for the better,” PM Bolojan stated on Friday in a post on the Facebook page of the Government.

Previously, Director General of the National Company for Road Infrastructure Administration (CNAIR) Cristian Pistol, who accompanied the Prime Minister on the working visit, announced on Friday that Romanians shall be able to drive on the motorway from Bucharest to Pascani as of 2026, taking into account that the physical progress stands at approximately 80pct on the Focsani-Domnesti Targ and Domnesti Targ-Racaciuni sections, namely almost 60pct on the Racaciuni-Bacau section.

„At this pace, there are real chances to open traffic, at least up to Adjud (50 kilometers), by the end of this year,” Pistol pointed out on Facebook.

According to the quoted source, completing works on time for this 96-kilometer section, as well as for the neighboring Bacau-Pascani section, is crucial for ensuring continuity along the Pan-European Corridor IX and for boosting Moldavia’s economic development.

The works on the six lots between Focsani and Pascani, contracted by the Romanian builder UMB, are funded through the PNRR.
