The national flag is a symbol of our identity and of national unity, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan said on Thursday in a message marking National Flag Day.

„The three colours – blue, yellow, and red – have accompanied the Romanian people during decisive moments in history: from the Revolution of 1848 and the Union of the Principalities, to the gaining of Independence, the great world wars and the integration into the European Union and NATO. Under the tricolour, Romania has affirmed its sovereignty, built its democracy and celebrated the achievements of its citizens. The flag, alongside the other national symbols, connects the past – marked by sacrifice – to the future we are building together,” said Ilie Bolojan.

The Prime Minister emphasised that Romania will succeed if we remain united and if the state, through all its institutions, acts with respect and responsibility towards its citizens.

„Happy Day, Romania! Happy National Flag Day!,” Bolojan concluded.
