PM Bolojan: Romania will not generate situations that could draw us into a war

Published on

Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan stated on Thursday that Romania will not create situations that could draw it into a war.

„Romania will not generate situations that could draw us into a war. What Romania is currently doing and what it has done over these years is to defend its borders, to take part in European defence, to observe its strategic partnerships with our allies – with the US, with NATO, with our European partners – and to make sure that the things we have committed to possess, in order to ensure the defence of our country, on our territory, are purchased and that we equip ourselves with these endowment. That is what Romania is doing,” Ilie Bolojan told Antena 3 private television station.

He underscored that our country is not provoking and that „there is no intention whatsoever” to generate wars.

„[Romania] does not provoke, does not create any problems. Following this logic, there is no intention, despite all the rumours, to generate wars or to send our young people to war. These repetitive disinformation campaigns appear, unfortunately, quite often and, without any ambiguity, there is no real basis for such a discussion,” the Prime Minister mentioned.

PM Bolojan noted that disinformation is effective only when it finds „fertile ground” and that the authorities must regain the public’s confidence.

„When a country is economically stable and confident, disinformation has no effect. It is like a healthy, well-nourished body for which a cold causes no serious harm,” the Prime Minister said. AGERPRES
