Two of the people injured in the explosion which occurred on Friday morning in a block of flats in District 5, who suffered severe burns, will be transferred abroad for treatment, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan mentioned.
The head of Government also announced that the building affected by the explosion can no longer be restored and will need to be demolished.
„Unfortunately, we had this tragedy this morning and I want to express my sympathy to the families of the deceased, to those injured, to all the residents of that block whose lives were, basically, turned upside down by that explosion. I understand there are three people confirmed dead and two in serious condition, with two of them, unfortunately, suffering quite severe burns and the Health Minister informed me that arrangements have been made for them to be transferred abroad. The other cases are in a stable condition. But sadly, this tragedy has generated this number of victims and damaged the building’s structural integrity, and according to initial estimates from the State Construction Inspectorate, it is very likely that the block cannot be renovated and will have to be demolished,” PM Ilie Bolojan said in an interview with Radio Romania Actualitati.
