PM Ciolacu announces start of procedures for construction of Regional Institute of Oncology in Timisoara

Published on

Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu announced on Thursday the start of procedures for the construction of the Regional Institute of Oncology in Timisoara, mentioning that the institute will have 250 beds and an integrated outpatient clinic with 26 medical offices, with state-of-the-art equipment.

„Today we start the procedures for the construction of the Regional Institute of Oncology in Timisoara. It is a very important objective for the lives of tens of thousands of patients in the entire area, an investment through PNRR [the National Recovery and Resilience Plan] of more than 230 million euros,” said Ciolacu, at the beginning of the Government meeting in Timisoara.

He said that the new institute will have 250 beds and an integrated outpatient clinic with 26 medical offices.

„There will be state-of-the-art facilities for laboratory tests, imaging, operating theatre, intensive care and the transplant centre, and that after having already approved the construction of the hospital for severe burns with all the equipment,” Ciolacu added.

The prime minister mentioned that the Government meeting will take place in Timisoara „as a sign of respect for all the inhabitants of Timisoara”.

„This is a clear signal that the Romanian Government is giving today. Timis County deserves and has the right to benefit from large-scale government investments, to match its contribution to Romania’s GDP. We must call a spade a spade: in Banat, Timisoara has been deprived for too long of major projects, even though it is one of the poles of economic growth of the country. In 30 years, too little of the money of the citizens of Timis County has been invested in investments that would make people’s lives better and too little investment in infrastructure, so that more economic opportunities could be attracted,” said Marcel Ciolacu.
