Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu on Monday informed that he asked the minister of finance to carry out an analysis into the necessity of having a new tax threshold for pensions, and also to look into the meal vouchers for pensioners, in order to get sure that no pensioner will lose money after recalculation.
„No pension will be cut down. Let’s see exactly what are the existing problems with the law and, until then, the Labour Ministry will send a letter for each socio-professional category, and only after that we will see the changes that need to be done. However, I think that we can all relax now because, as far as I understand, no one lost any money,” said Ciolacu, at the PSD headquarters.
He mentioned that the Government will also hold a discussion about the threshold up to which pensions are taxed, considering that after recalculation some will exceed the current threshold.
„I asked the minister of finance to do a simulation for me to see exactly how many people enter this area, so that people do not lose money instead of gaining. (…) The Minister of Finance will come to these thresholds. With the whole analysis, the minister of finance will come so that no one loses any money either through taxation or by giving up vouchers (social vouchers for food that are given to pensioners – n.r.)”, concluded the prime minister.
