Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said, when asked by the journalist from ecopolitic.ro about the development of ammunition production capacities, that in a couple of years Romania will have the largest gunpowder factory in Europe.

Ciolacu: Gunpowder in about two years. It takes time, the building matters, but it’s not a very sophisticated thing. We have found the site, it’s owned by ANAF and we can expand to have the biggest powder factory in Europe.
Romania will receive €47 million to build a military powder factory, through a partnership between Romanian company Romarm and German arms manufacturer Rheinmetall.

The Commission says 31 funding contracts for ammunition production capacity development projects, including the construction of the Romanian ammunition powder plant, could be signed in May.
