Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu on Thursday had consultations at the Victoria Palace with the representatives of the European Youth Forum and with those of the Romanian Youth Council, in which context he appreciated that the internship programmes carried out both at the level of the Government, as well as of the Parliament, bring „real benefits” not only to young people, but also to public institutions, reads a press release of the Government, write Agerpres.
„It is extremely important to have permanent consultations with young people to reduce the gap between generations and, especially, between the young generation and decision-makers. Young people have the ability to adapt and quickly accumulate knowledge, information, to come up with innovative solutions. And I can see how the internship programmes carried out both at the level of the Government and the Parliament bring real benefits not only to young people, but also to the public institutions. For these reasons, a dynamic process of consultation with representative associations of the young generation is particularly useful,” said the Prime Minister Ciolacu, quoted in the press release.
While also in attendance, the Minister of Family, Youth and Equal Opportunities, Natalia Intotero, pointed out that the government side needs the „vision, commitment and responsibility” of young people. „The fact that we are here, together, gives us all a new perspective of the future. The young people have a lot of problems, but with the support of Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu and the Government of Romania, we will find solutions to many of them.
The new Education Law supports the young people to create as many opportunities as possible and to strengthen the relationship between the two generations. Together we will contribute to the growth of new leaders, both at the national and European level,” stated Minister Natalia Intotero. For their part, the representatives of the European Youth Forum welcomed the good practices at the Government level regarding the running of the Official Internship Programme, which this year offering 150 positions.
„Interns enrolled in this programme receive, according to Law no. 176/2018 on internships, a monthly allowance representing at least 50% of the minimum gross salary per economy,” states the Government. Also, the representatives of the European Youth Forum showed that there is a need to „boost” consultations between youth organizations and public authorities, considering that the theme of youth requires an integrated approach at the level of the Government and ministries.
