On Tuesday, the Save Romania Union (USR) asked prime minister Marcel Ciolacu to come to the Parliament to give explanations about the appointment process and the person proposed for the position of European Commissioner on Romania’s behalf.
„In three days, the deadline expires in which Romania must propose a person for the position of European Commissioner. In this context, USR, through the voice of deputy Iulian Bulai, requested in the Committee for European Affairs that prime minister Marcel Ciolacu come to the Parliament to give explanations about the process and the person proposed for this important position,” USR transmitted, in a press release delivered to AGERPRES.
„Because we start the parliamentary session in a few days, we proposed, on behalf of the USR group, to invite prime minister Marcel Ciolacu to share with the parliamentarians details about the process of appointing the European Commissioner: who is the proposed person, if Romania will comply with the request of the European Commission and if he will propose both a man and a woman and when a decision will be made by the prime minister in this regard. We need more clarity on this subject,” the USR deputy explained.
USR reiterated the request for „transparency” of the process of appointing the commissioner on our country’s behalf, because „the position does not belong to PSD (Social Democratic Party, ed. n.), but to Romania”.
