PM Ciolacu picks Bogdan Ivan to head Family Ministry as acting minister

On Friday, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu submitted to the Presidential Administration a proposal to appoint Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Transformation Bogdan-Gruia Ivan interim minister of family, youth and equal opportunities, write Agerpres.

According to a government press release, also on Friday the prime minister had a discussion on the situation at the residential care homes that are subject of formal checks with Gabriela Firea, who stepped down as minister of family, youth and equal opportunities.

Ciolacu added that all mayors, county council chairs, directors of local public institutions and police chiefs who had a connection with the ‘asylums of horror’ to take full responsibility and a step back.

„We need real change, an overhaul, so that we can repair this horrendous system that has corrupted consciences in exchange for money. I have taken responsibility for that as the prime minister. And I will go all the way! I will change things from top to bottom, together with my colleagues in the government, the Romanian Orthodox Church and the rest of the religious denominations, and the civil society. I have no mercy for those who destroyed the lives and souls of defenseless people!” added Ciolacu.
