PM Ciolacu: Romania goes through turbulence; we have mechanisms for automatic stabilization

Prime minister Marcel Ciolacu on Wednesday stated that Romania is going through turbulence caused by political instability and the cancellation of the presidential election, noting that our country has „automatic stabilization mechanisms” and the capacity to mobilize all available resources to return to a stable path.

„Romania is going through turbulence caused by political instability and the cancellation of the presidential election. Only together we can stop these uncertainties by creating a pro-European majority and a Government that will carry out the reforms and investments from the PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan) and the structural budget plan committed at European level. This must happen by the end of this year,” stated Ciolacu, at the beginning of the Government meeting.

He showed that Romania has „automatic stabilization mechanisms” and has the capacity to return to a stable path.

„We’ve gone through the economic, health, energy crisis together, and the one triggered by the war at our border. I am certain that we will get through this period together. Romania has automatic stabilization mechanisms and we have the capacity to mobilize all the resources at our disposal to return to a stable path,” the prime minister added.

Marcel Ciolacu also announced that this is the last meeting of the current government, specifying that he will look back and asses the activity of his government and of the ministers.

„I would like to thank all the members of the Government for their work. It was not, as you well know, an easy mandate. We had to go through many difficult situations and I believe that the future mandate of the Executive will not be an easy one either. It will be all about, first and foremost, security and the economy,” the PM also said.
