Prime minister Marcel Ciolacu says he is in deep shock after seeing the news from Slovakia about the shooting of prime minister Robert Fico, and sent his Slovak counterpart his most sincere thoughts, while underscoring that the perpetrators must be held accountable.

„I am in deep shock after seeing the news from Slovakia. I send my sincerest thoughts to the Slovak PM Robert Fico. Such extremist acts have no justification whatsoever, and the perpetrators must be held accountable,” said Marcel Ciolacu, on Wednesday, in a post on his X page.

Slovakia’s social democrat prime minister Robert Fico has been injured in a shooting on Wednesday after a government meeting held outside of the Capital City Bratislava, in the Handlova City, according to Reuters and TASR news agencies.
