Romania has consumed around 20% of the 1st and 2nd tranches of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), Prime Minister Marcel Cioacu said on Tuesday, noting that there is no question of our country „running out of money”.
„We have so far used about 20% of the amounts from tranche 1 and tranche 2. So, there is no problem that Romania remains without money. To be honest, we are waiting for the last report after the visit of Mrs. Celine Gauer and then we will take the next steps. This year the money will be collected. I think it’s important to collect the entire amount,” stated Ciolacu, at the headquarters of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), when asked if Romania will eventually receive the 3rd tranche of the PNRR.
The prime minister maintained that there are no disappointments on the part of the Government regarding the relationship with the European Commission for the way the PNRR negotiations are proceeding.
„We will continue the discussions. If you don’t’ mind, why would I be disappointed for things that I did not include in the PNRR? The Commission comes and tells us and shows us the things that we assumed. Mr. Ghinea and Mr. Citu assumed those things in the PNRR. What I can do is to try to negotiate, for example, how it is in micro-enterprises, where Mr. Ghinea and Mr. Citu assumed that there would be a threshold of 60,000, not Marcel Ciolacu. Mr. Ciuca and I assumed that we would decrease from 1 million to 500,000, which we did,” the PSD chairman said.
