PM Ciolacu welcomed by Free State of Bavaria PM Markus Soder

Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu was welcomed by Prime Minister of the Free State of Bavaria Markus Soder, at the Bavarian State Chancellery on Tuesday, as part of his official visit to the Federal Republic of Germany.

The welcoming ceremony will be followed by the joint meeting of the two governments, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Romanian-Bavarian institutional cooperation, according to the programme announced by the Executive.

The two prime ministers will then attend the signing of a Memorandum on Entrepreneurship, SMEs and Start-Ups by the relevant ministers.

The event will be followed by a meeting between the two prime ministers, at the end of which joint press statements will be made.

During the official visit, PM Ciolacu is accompanied by Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Sorin Grindeanu, Minister of National Defence Angel Tilvar, Minister of Foreign Affairs Luminita Odobescu, Minister of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism Stefan-Radu Oprea, Minister of Labour and Social Solidarity Simona Bucura-Oprescu.

On Monday, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu attended the first match of the Romanian national football team at the European Football Championship EURO 2024 against the national team of Ukraine, and on Monday evening he attended the reception in his honour at the Nymphenburg Castle in Munich, together with representatives of the diaspora, ethnic Germans, Saxons and Swabian from Romania, as well as representatives of religious denominations.

According to data presented by the Government, Bavaria is the most important investor and trading partner for Romania among the German Lander, with a trade volume of about 8.37 billion euros. On the second place is Baden Wurttemberg with 8.22 billion euro and third is North Rhine-Westphalia with 7.39 billion euro, mainly in the areas of machine building, parts and components in the automotive and IT industries.
