PM Ciuca on PNL’s stance on high-profile plagiarism case: Let justice do its job

Chairman of the National Liberal Party (PNL), Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca, declared on Monday with regard to the Liberals’ stance on plagiarism and plagiarism accusations leveled against Minister of the Interior Lucian Bode that there is justice in Romania, and the moment a final decision is handed down, the Liberals will make their standpoint known, according to Agerpres.

„There have been discussions whereby we clearly explained our position to the party branch leaders. There is justice in Romania. There is a time gap from when the accusation is filed till the final verdict, therefore let the process unfold in court and when we will have a final decision, we will make our standpoint public,” Ciuca said after the meeting of the PNL National Political Bureau when asked what the Liberals’ stance on plagiarism is.

Regarding President Klaus Iohannis’s statement from 2021, where he claimed that anyone suspected of plagiarism should take a step back, the prime minister replied: „It is a statement by the president of the country that matters to each of us, yet this is a process that must end with a final court ruling.”
