Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan announced on Wednesday that he had appointed a new management at the National Agency for Fiscal Administration (ANAF).
„In order to put this [tax] package into practice, it is obvious that (…) a different approach is needed and today we have appointed a new management at ANAF, at the proposal of the Minister of Finance, so that, by establishing performance criteria, we can combat both tax evasion and fight from all positions for the correct spending of public money and for combating fraud,” Ilie Bolojan told a press conference at Victoria Palace.
Asked what are the concrete measures to combat tax evasion, he specified that the second package of measures to reduce the budget deficit would also include measures that strengthen the capacity of the Finance Ministry and ANAF to do their duty.
„These mean aspects related to installments, foreclosures, confiscations of assets, legislation related to insolvency and so on. This package is currently being worked on, it will be adopted to create, apart from the will to do what is right, the legal framework for ANAF to be more efficient and for collections to be better in the coming period, not only due to a two percentage point increase in VAT, but especially from better collection,” said Bolojan.
