Chairman of the National Liberal Party (PNL) Nicolae Ciuca declared on Friday in Bihor County that not just the budget deficit, but the public debt too is an issue for the country, and that these need to be managed wisely because Romania hasn’t yet struck a macroeconomic balance allowing a high level of indebtedness.
„From the talks I had with Mr. Finance Minister Marcel Bolos, and judging by the his latest activities in Brussels this week, it is clear that the parameters agreed together with the Commission and set forth in the National Recovery and Resilience Plan stay in place. Also, they accepted that the Government of Romania and the World Bank should agree on a survey to establish the deficit-reduction measures, and I believe it is fair to say this – the deficit is not the only problem, the public debt is an issue too, which we have to manage as wisely as possible because Romania has not yet reached that stability, that macroeconomic balance to afford a wide deficit and a large public debt,” Ciuca declared.
The PNL Chairman and presidential hopeful participated on Friday in the completion of the works on the Beius municipality belt, a project carried out with European funds.
