National leader of the National Liberal Party (PNL), Senate Chairman Nicolae Ciuca, on Monday visited the emergency room of Sf. Maria Children’s Hospital, accompanied by the Iasi County Council Chair Costel Alexe and lawmaker Alexandru Muraru, chairman of PNL Iasi chapter.
„I am glad to come back here to the paediatric hospital, where I also was when I was prime minister. I also saw the works when they were in progress for the emergency department. It is a very important step (…) From what I understand, it is the only emergency unit for children in Moldavia. I understood that from here to Bucharest there is no other such emergency department. The fact that they manage to develop, not only to modernise the department, and to give it the size and capacity necessary to treat as many children as possible benefits all of us,” said Ciuca.
The emergency department of Sf. Maria Hospital in Iasi is to operate in a new building that covers over 2,357 square metres, with a semi-basement, ground floor and first floor, and a heliport on its terrace.
Thus, the capacity of the building built next to the old hospital was extended from five to 34 beds, of which four beds for cardiorespiratory resuscitation, 16 beds for immediate treatment, two beds for isolation of contagious patients, 13 beds for surveillance for a maximum of 24 hours.
Annually, over 40,000 children from the county and the region get medical attention at the emergency department of the hospital in Iasi.
