PNL’s Stelian Bujduveanu to be Capital interim mayor

Published on

Stelian Bujduveanu of the National Liberal Party (PNL) will become the interim general mayor of Bucharest, according to a draft resolution approved on Friday by the General Council of the Municipality of Bucharest (CGMB).

The resolution was passed with 38 votes in favour and 8 against. Out of a total of 52 votes cast, 6 were annulled.

The CGMB approved a resolution establishing that Deputy Mayor Stelian Bujduveanu will serve as the first legal substitute for the general mayor, following Nicusor Dan’s victory in the presidential election.

Stelian Bujduveanu (PNL) and Adrian Vigheciu of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) were both elected as deputy mayors of the capital; however, it was the Social Democrat vice mayor who held the role of first legal substitute for the general mayor. Following Friday’s vote, that situation changed, and Bujduveanu now becomes the interim general mayor.
