Politehnica Bucharest organises 13-14 November MaterialFEST 2025, an event that demonstrates the essential role of materials engineering in all areas of the economy including automotive, aerospace, IT, electronics, robotics, nanotechnology, construction, medicine, defence and industrial art.
The event, organised by the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering, brings together dozens of companies, researchers, academics and students, offering an interactive experience that highlights how scientific innovation drives industry and sustainable development.
According to a press release from the organisers, MaterialFEST 2025 focuses on practical applications of materials in defence, mobility, personnel protection and energy autonomy. Thus, Stimpex will exhibit a military telecommunications vehicle in the campus car park, along with ballistic protection equipment, a concrete example of how new materials can save lives and improve the mobility of defence forces, while Nutechnologies will present metal 3D printing equipment worth over one million euros, illustrating how additive manufacturing enables the rapid production of complex customised parts, including medical implants and prostheses made of biocompatible alloys.
Admasys will also contribute to the 3D innovation area with live printing demonstrations and advanced manufacturing simulations, Comoti (the National Research and Development Institute for Gas Turbines) will showcase a small drone and 3D-printed parts, highlighting the applications of these technologies in the aerospace and energy industries, and Holcim will present samples of cement, AAC and innovative materials for sustainable construction, demonstrating how the traditional materials industry is evolving towards green, durable and intelligent solutions.
In the exhibition area, Coman IronWorks will hold live forging demonstrations of metal components, while the State Mint and Metal Art Techniques (Ionita Marian) will display pieces combining industrial precision with metal artistry, from statues to coins and design details.
MaterialFEST 2025 also marks the inauguration of the Light Alloys Processing Laboratory, sponsored by ALRO, a state-of-the-art space dedicated to research and student training in areas with direct industrial applications.
On Friday, 14 November, there will be a competition for secondary school pupils titled ‘Eco Ingenio – Innovation and Sustainability in Environmental Protection,’ where young participants will present eco-models proposing creative solutions to reduce the ecological footprint and protect the environment.
‘MaterialFEST 2025 is designed as a space for dialogue and collaboration between academia and industry, offering the opportunity to discover the latest applications of research in materials engineering in industrial production, construction, transport, medicine or defence,’ the press release reads.
