Politehnica University to host the 3rd edition of Poli E-Fest 2025 gaming competition April 10-13

Published on

The third edition of Poli E-FEST 2025, the largest event dedicated to the video game industry in Romania, will take place from April 10 to 13, at the Politehnica University.

The event will bring together thousands of students and young people from across the country to participate in „the most electrifying” gaming competitions, the university informs. The 2025 edition will include, for the first time, qualifications for the League of Legends and Counter-Strike 2 competitions, due to the „impressive” number of registered teams. Poli E-FEST 2025 will offer prizes worth tens of thousands of euros and will also become a meeting place for future professionals in the technological and gaming fields.

„The most beloved streamers and content creators in the gaming industry are expected in Bucharest! Poli E-FEST is the event that brings together two generations and offers exciting opportunities to young gaming enthusiasts,” the same source mentions.

This year, Poli E-FEST will enjoy a „record” participation, with 320 players on League of Legends, 320 on Counter-Strike 2, 300 on EAFC 25, 600 on Brawl Stars and 64 on Mortal Kombat. The competitions will attract not only the best players in the country, but also a huge audience of over 5,000 visitors, who will have the opportunity to witness live duels in the most popular games of the moment.

In Romania, video game and e-sports revenues reached 238 million euros in 2024, up 6% from the previous year, and are expected to reach 311 million euros by 2028.

„Poli E-FEST 2025 is more than just a gaming competition – it is a celebration of technology and the passion of young talent. We are proud to bring together both top competitors and a vibrant community of gamers and technology lovers. Together with the event ambassadors, we are ready to offer a memorable experience and connect young people from across the country with industry leaders,” said the Politehnica University rector, Mihnea Costoiu.

Whether the audience connects on Twitch or is physically present, the ten event ambassadors will be with those present throughout the competitions. They will interact with fans during meet and greet sessions, broadcast live from the event, offering the public the opportunity to meet their favourites and take pictures at specially arranged stands, the press release states.

Data from 2025 highlights that the average age of video game players is 36 years old, and 5 out of 10 are women, which demonstrates that gaming has become an activity appreciated by all age and gender categories.

„In 2025, the video game industry will generate global revenues of approximately 210 billion US dollars, and the number of active players is estimated to exceed 3.3 billion worldwide. These figures highlight not only the rapid expansion of the industry, but also the fact that gaming has become a global phenomenon, which exceeds any age or gender limit and attracts an increasingly wider audience,” the same source states.
