The Vatican’s Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, considered to be the Holy See’s No. 2, will pay a two-day visit to Iasi over May 18-19, representatives of the Iasi Roman Catholic Diocese inform in a release.
According to the cited source, the high official of the Catholic Church and the Vatican will lead the community Youth Day Mass on Saturday, May 18, in a celebration of the 10th anniversary of the beatification of martyr Bishop Anton Durcovici.
The celebration will take place at the Our Lady Virgin Mary Cathedral in Iasi, at 11:30 a.m. Rev. Mons. Iosif Paulet, Bishop of Iasi, Rev. Mons. Petru Sescu, Auxiliary Bishop, Rev. Mons. Petru Gherghel, Bishop Emeritus, as well as Roman Catholic Metropolitan Archbishop of Bucharest Aurel Perca, and Archbishop Emeritus of Bucharest Ioan Robu will be present at the celebration alongside more than 2,000 young people from the entire diocese.
According to the cited source, the high official of the Catholic Church and the Vatican will visit the local Center for the elderly, and the care facility for people with special needs coordinated by the Daughters of St. Mary of Divine Providence Congregation, and the Servants of Charity – Opera Don Guanella Congregation in Iasi, respectively.
Cardinal Pietro Parolin will also meet with Metropolitan Teofan of Moldova and Bucovina.
