A powerful explosion occurred on Friday in a residential block in Sector 5 of the capital, without being followed by a fire, according to the Department for Emergency Situations (DSU), which activated the Red Intervention Plan.

„According to initial information received, an explosion occurred in a residential block with a height of ground floor plus eight storeys (G+8), located on Calea Rahovei, Sector 5, Bucharest. The explosion affected several flats between the 1st and 5th floors. Search and rescue teams from the Bucharest-Ilfov Inspectorate for Emergency Situations have been deployed,” the source mentioned.
