Major topics of the bilateral Strategic Partnership relationship were addressed at the government palace, where premier Nicolae Ciuca welcomed the US ambassador to Romania, Kathleen Ann Kavalec, a gov’t release reads, Agerpres informs.
According to the source, the prime minister thanked for the decision of the United States to increase the military presence in Romania and for the support and concern for the security of the Black Sea, shown at the level of the US Congress, of the State Department and NATO.
At the same time, the parties talked about the economic projects regarding the investments in groups 3 and 4 at the Cernavoda Nuclear Power Plant and those regarding the Small Modular Reactors – SMR as being of prime importance for both sides, through the contribution brought to the consolidation of energy security in the region.
In this context, ambassador Kavalec reviewed the major concerns for regional security, in the conditions of Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine and attempts to destabilize the Republic of Moldova.
The American official conveyed all the appreciation for the role assumed by Romania in the multi-dimensional assistance granted to the two states.
Last but not least, the new American ambassador to Romania expressed appreciation for prime minister Ciuca’s personal involvement in combating human trafficking, the furthering of the progress representing a strong argument for our country’s accession to the Visa Waver Programme.
