At the debates at the Cotroceni with the magistrates, „all opinions are welcome,” President Nicusor Dan said on Monday in Helsinki, underscoring that he hopes these consultations will identify „deficient mechanisms” and that there will be „political will” to correct them.
„There are things I have been hearing informally for a long time about what is happening in the judiciary. When 800 or 900 magistrates say these things are happening, it means there is a serious problem. What is the solution to this serious problem? First of all, the issues must be structured and proven, because that is important too. At the debates we will have at the Cotroceni, all opinions are welcome – both in one direction and the other. What is important is to identify those issues that come up very often, such as the Judicial Inspection or the procedure for appointing heads of courts, to name just two, to see which mechanisms are deficient and, of course, to have the political will to correct them,” he said.
The president is attending the Summit of EU’s Eastern Flank States in Finland.
He is scheduled to have an open-ended meeting with Romanian magistrates at the Cotroceni Palace on 22 December, „an important discussion on Justice which, of course, will continue.”
President Nicusor Dan stated that this topic is an important one, which interests him.
„Of course, during the periods when I don’t have international engagements, I am in contact with Romania and with the relevant information on this topic,” he said.AGERPRES
