President Dan: I informed Gov’t that Presidency returns 17.5 mln lei from 2025 budget

Published on

President Nicusor Dan announced on Tuesday that he had informed the Government, in the context of the upcoming budget rectification, that the Presidential Administration is returning 17.5 million lei from the budget allocated for 2025.

„In July I said that the Presidential Administration would contribute to the austerity effort through a real reduction of its own budget, not through symbolic gestures. In the budget rectification published yesterday, I informed the Government that the Presidential Administration is returning 17.5 million lei from the budget allocated for 2025. This means approximately 17% of the budget credits, a serious reduction, the result of a careful analysis of the institution’s expenses,” Nicusor Dan wrote on his X page.

The head of state says it is normal for the Presidential Administration to participate in this collective effort, in the context of budgetary restrictions.

„I know that for many Romanians times are hard and I believe that the state must set the first example of responsibility. It is normal that the Presidential Administration also participates in this collective effort. We cannot ask for efforts from people without the state being the first to make them. It is not a political gesture, it is a matter of common sense. We are moving forward with a firm commitment to a more flexible, more efficient and closer to the people state”, the president also wrote on his social media page.
