President Nicusor Dan welcomes the fact that on Wednesday, the Constitutional Court upheld the challenge he filed in July regarding a law that „endangered state property.”
„I exercised my constitutional role to safeguard the observance of the fundamental law and I will continue to intervene whenever necessary in order to ensure that the legislation observes the Constitution and Romania’s international commitments,” the head of state wrote on his Facebook page.
He explained the fact that the law stipulated the free transfer of a plot of land with significant value, owned by the state, to the commune of Moara, Suceava County.
In conclusion, Nicusor Dan says, „this decision of the Court confirms that the state’s obligation is to protect its properties and national interests in economic activity.”
The Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR) ruled that the transfer of a property from the state’s private ownership and the management of the Suceava Agricultural Research and Development Station to the public ownership of Moara commune is unconstitutional. AGERPRES
