President Dan: National Defence Strategy – a joint effort to which institutions, organisations and citizens contributed

Published on

The National Defence Strategy for 2025-2030, adopted on Wednesday by Parliament’s joint plenary, is the result of a joint effort involving institutions, organisations and citizens, many of whose observations were included into its final form, President Nicusor Dan mentioned.

„The Strategy approaches national security from the citizen’s perspective. We are not defending an abstract notion, the Romanian state, but the Romanian citizen. Its central concept is ‘solidary independence’. Independence, in the sense that the actions of the state administration must reflect how the people here see the world, affirming this identity and the interests which corresponds to this identity. Solidarity, meaning our respect for all partners and for all the commitments we have undertaken in an increasingly complex world,” the President wrote on his Facebook page.

He brought to mind that following the adoption of the Strategy, an implementation plan will be drafted, with clear deadlines and indicators.

„The challenge for all institutions of the state will be to put into practice everything written in these documents, for the benefit of Romanians,” Nicusor Dan pointed out.
