President Nicusor Dan on Thursday stated that USR’s (Save Romania Union) proposals for the Defence and Economy portfolios, Radu Miruta and Irineu Darau, respectively, are both people he trusts.

The head of state specified that he was consulted beforehand by the USR „for both Mr. Miruta and Mr. Darau – they are people I trust”.

USR President, Dominic Fritz, convened a meeting of the USR Political Committee on Friday, in order to submit the proposals for the Defence and Economy ministries to a vote.

Thus, the current Minister of Economy, Radu Miruta, is proposed for the position of Minister of Defence, after the resignation of Ionut Mosteanu, and he will also hold the office of Deputy Prime Minister. Senator Irineu Darau is proposed for the office of Minister of Economy, according to a press release sent by the USR to AGERPRES on Thursday.
