Romania is working closely with Egypt to implement President Donald Trump’s Middle East peace plan, Romania’s President Nicusor Dan said on Thursday.
On Wednesday, Dan participated in a working dinner organised by the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, with the President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, on the sidelines of the EU-Egypt Institutional Summit.
„I welcomed the in-depth discussion we had yesterday evening in Brussels with the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. Romania supports the EU objective of deepening our political and economic partnership with Egypt. We value the important role Egypt is playing in the peace and stability of the region. In this regard, we are committed to working closely with Egypt for the implementation of President Trump’s Peace Plan in the Middle East,” Dan wrote in a social media post.
Dan is attending today a European Council summit meeting in Brussels.
The summit’s agenda includes the situation in Ukraine, the Middle East, European security and defence, EU competitiveness and the twin transition, access to housing, migration and the Republic of Moldova.
The summit is in an extended format, and special emphasis will be given to the Economic and Monetary Union and the digital single European currency.
