President Nicusor Dan welcomed on Wednesday NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at the Cotroceni Palace.
The two leaders will hold one-on-one and official talks, followed by a press conference.
Subsequently, the head of NATO will meet Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan at the Victoria Palace, as well as Senate President Mircea Abrudean, and, afterwards, Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Sorin Grindeanu at the Palace of Parliament.
The visit of the senior NATO official takes place in the context of his participation in the NATO Industry Forum, which takes place on Wednesday and Thursday in Bucharest, an event aimed at strategic dialogue with defence industries from allied states.
The President of Romania and the NATO Secretary General will both take part in the forum on Thursday morning.
According to the Presidential Administration, the agenda of talks between President Nicusor Dan and the NATO Secretary General will include the threats which the North Atlantic Alliance is confronted with, particularly on the Eastern Flank, as well as ways to strengthen Romania’s security and the Alliance’s collective defence and deterrence capacity.
This is Secretary General Mark Rutte’s first visit to Romania as head of the Alliance. He last visited our country three years ago, at the Cincu military base, when he was Prime Minister of the Netherlands. AGERPRES
