President-elect Nicusor Dan on Friday said that the functioning of some environmental protection institutions in Romania is „completely deficient.”

He mentioned that he will get involved in resolving this issue.

The clarifications came after the president-elect was asked to what extent he will pay attention to environmental issues, given the infringement procedures launched against Romania.

„On environmental issues, there are two things. One is the functioning of the institutions, which is, in my opinion, completely deficient. And I am referring to both the Environmental Guard and the environmental protection agencies. And I will get involved here. On the other hand, we are talking about the remediation of some environmental problems, which means costs… so we depend on the budget,” he said, in a statement to the press.
